MWMC provides diagnostic services in hematology, chemistry, urinalysis and microbiology. We also offer a full service clinical laboratory for patients with local or out of the area physicians. The laboratory services here at MWMC are of course always available 24/7.
The program is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Staff members are fully trained and certified for working in a laboratory with state of the art equipment. A pathologist is available to direct the clinicians in care appropriate to each individual patient. He is available to surgery to evaluate tissue specimens on a regular basis.
Services of a pathologist are provided for patients whose physicians request examination of tissue removed as a result of surgical procedure, whether in or outpatient. The pathologist evaluates the samples for cellular changes. These findings are then reported to the ordering physician.
Tests done in the laboratory enable a provider to confirm a clinical impression, establish or rule out a diagnosis, monitor therapy, establish a prognosis, and screen for or detect disease. A full service blood bank is also available. Patients receiving blood transfusions are encouraged to request family and friends to donate blood at the by the Red Cross.
